NDIS

Understanding the NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is how the Australian Government funds the costs associated with having a disability, so that people with disabilities and their families have the supports they need. The NDIS is overseen by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

As of late 2023, approximately 5.5 million Australians (21.4%) have a disability, with around 610,500 active participants in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) as of June 2023. The NDIS funded approximately $1.85 billion in the first half of 2024–2025, and has supported 649,623 participants as of March 1, 2024.

NDIS Help

How does the NDIS help?

People with disabilities who get NDIS funding can access supports and services that will enable them to participate in society and accomplish their objectives. Participants in the NDIS are not required to make co-contributions, and eligibility is not based on income. This implies that people who provide care for a person with a disability are not required to foot the bill for all required supports. Additionally, it means that families who are responsible for someone with a disability may rest easy knowing that their loved one will get the assistance they require.

How does the NDIS work?

Creating your plan. Your plan is a written agreement worked out with you. Everyone’s plan is different. We will ask questions about how you are going in different areas of your life, what goals you would like to pursue and what kind of help and support you need.
